SPJA Adopts Anime Conji


The first major steps have been made regarding the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation adopting Anime Conji from the San Diego Speculative Fiction Society, Inc. Normally on my articles, I would write an article that analyzes the impact of it and how it can affect the convention's future. Seeing that I am on the Board of Directors for the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, a major party in this discussion, I will refrain from it.

This is in my blog for a couple of reasons:
  1. It has heavy historical value for the history of both SanSFiS and SPJA
  2. I am on the Board of Directors of the SPJA, and thus this is relevant to my position.
  3. I am a huge fan of Anime Conji and I want the convention to succeed and prosper

Here is the Press Release from SanSFiS regarding Anime Conji
San Diego Speculative Fiction Society, Inc. ("SanSFiS", nonprofit corporate sponsor of Anime Conji), and the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation ("SPJA", nonprofit corporate sponsor of Anime Expo & Project Anime), are pleased to announce preliminary agreement to shift operation of Anime Conji to the SPJA.

The transfer agreement is contingent upon approval by both Boards of Directors.

More information about Anime Conji 2013, including online registration, will be available on this website by June 1st, 2012. All previously announced discounts for AC2013 will be honored. SanSFiS and the SPJA view Anime Conji as a vital part of anime fandom in San Diego and Southern California, and both organizations believe this move will help ensure the convention's continued success and growth.

I believe that this adoption will help both Anime Conji and Anime Expo. I look forward to see what will happen in the future with both conventions. Look forward to an official statement from myself once everything has been finalized.

One of my favorite sports in the Summer Olympics is Rhythmic Gymnastics because of its beauty, grace, and skill. This sport is not a well known sport in the states since artistic gymnastics dominates the headlines. While this sport is not ubiquitous in the United States, it has heavy exposure all over the world, being part of the sport track in many primary schools all over Asia and Europe. Due to its heavy exposure, Rhythmic Gymnastics is seen in a variety of anime and manga.
